FD Calculator

Banks advertise a rate. Maturity is still a small puzzle because compounding frequency changes the last rupee. This is a working FD box.

This is an estimate, not an official figure.

How to use

  1. Principal is what you put in today.
  2. Rate is the yearly FD rate from the bank sheet.
  3. Pick how often they compound. Quarterly is the usual retail FD setting.

One example

₹2,00,000 for 5 years at 7% quarterly comes close to ₹2,83,000 maturity. Interest is the gap. Senior citizen rate would sit a bit higher if you change the rate box.

Common mistakes

  • Using the savings account rate by habit.
  • Ignoring TDS if interest in a year crosses the limit they follow.
  • Thinking premature break still pays the same maturity.
